{ The Rules }
The rules of Catalyst To Destiny are to be followed by each and every member, including and especially staff members. By joining this forum, you agree to these and understand that if these rules are broken, there shall be repercussions.First and foremost, please read ALL of the rules. Do not jump in without doing so, as you shall not be excused from any punishment if you do happen to disobey one of the following rules.General Rules of Catalyst To Destiny
- 1. Harassment
All forms of harassment will not be tolerated in any shape or form. This includes any discrimination, racism, and sexual harassment. This rule is to be taken very seriously, as is the punishment that shall be given if it is broken. It is very offensive to the victim, and is not something anyone should have to deal with. Think of others’ feelings and viewpoints before you make a comment that may involve racism or sexist ideas, even if it is simply meant as a joke.- 2. Flaming
Flaming shall not be tolerated. Keep what is said civil please.- 3. Respect
All members should show respect to each other, including staff members. Though not everyone might see eye to eye, everyone is entitled to respect. If there is a problem, talk things out. If problems persist, contact a member of staff calmly and figure out a compromise.- 4. Respect the Staff
We ask members to show respect to staff by not pestering them with work/grading (i.e. : profiles). We staff will keep the site running as smoothly as possible, but do keep in mind that we do have lives outside of CTD, and there are times that we cannot attend to CTD immediately. Respect their authority - if you feel that there is a case of abuse of authority, please send me (Twinkie) a PM, and I shall check into the situation myself. Remember, we don't get paid for this - we do it because we want everyone to enjoy their experience here, including ourselves!- 5. Adult Content
CTD is a PG-13 site. Anything you don't want your kid brother (or sister) seeing should not be posted here. (I.e. Extreme gore and violence, overly suggestive themes, nudity, and all those things you see in warning credits). We ask that any severely explicit adult content (as in pr0ns, nudity, and bowchikabowow-ing) be left out of our site. This means we don’t want to see anything sexual, so no linking to pornographic material, whether it be a website, image, or other such material. (Careful when linking to things like Danbooru and 4chan - such things lurk in dark (or not so dark) corners there. We do not want to see any written sex role-play, cybering, etc. If you'd like to do such things, keep them behind closed door please - don't want to be scarring innocent minds here at CTD.- 6. Vulgar Language
Sure, we most likely all curse here and there from time to time, but please refrain from cursing like a sailor - it can be offensive to some, and most times, is just downright crude. If you are angry, please vent it somewhere else (or with someone on MSN). It would be much appreciated.- 7. 1337 speak
As a site dedicated to written role-play, we ask that you write coherently, even when out of character. Please use proper grammar and spelling as much as possible. w3 d0n w@/\/n@ s33 st|_|f lie|< di5. As cool as you may think it is... it really isn't. Language was used to communicate more efficiently, so let's keep it that way, shall we?- 8. Advertising
We've purposefully made a board exclusively for advertising, so please put it to use! Please refrain from posting advertisements and links to other forums anywhere other than the advertising board. It keeps things neat, and helps avoid conflict. Plus, those who are actually interested in other places will be looking at those boards anyway! Keep that shameless advertising somewhat classy. ;D- 9. Spam
The staff of CTD also asks you to please, please, refrain from spamming! It’s a waste of time, it’s annoying and useless. It will not help you get any serious attention, and could get you banned. If anything, it will encourage us to ignore you entirely.- 10. Multiple Accounts
Please, do not make more than one account. Multiple characters are allowed for a single account, so there really is no point to making several accounts. An abundance of accounts makes it hard for us Staff to maintain, so keep it simple.Role-Playing Rules of Catalyst To Destiny
Role-Playing includes a handful of rules that are very necessary - if you're going to be Role-Playing, please abide by these rules. You must make a profile and have it accepted before role-playing. CTD is a third-person role-play, so role-play in third person. Please do not role-play based off of personal matters with somebody you do not like. Always remember to show respect. Please use thread tags correctly, and don't barge in on threads you aren't welcome in. Though we are a role-play that accepts numerous levels of role-players, we ask that you post at least a solid two paragraphs (a paragraph often consists of four to five healthy sentences) per post and have no more than EIGHT characters. We ask you do not god-mod, power-post or meta-game. We ask you to not make Mary-sues or Gary-stues. This is an OC Bleach Role-play, so no mimicking the personality/abilities of the canons from Bleach, or any other well-known anime/manga.
- 1. Required Reading, Optional Reading
There are several guide threads written by our staff members to help you along the process of role-playing at CTD. Some of these threads are required reads, while others are optional. Here's the breakdown:
Required Reads
- Profile Guide
- Rank System
Optional Reads
- Improvement Guide unfinished
- Writing Guide unfinished- 2. Profile
Before you begin role-playing, you must make a profile for a character and have it accepted by a staff member! This allows us to make sure proper characters are in the site's atmosphere, and also helps the people you role-play with understand your character a bit more before they role-play with them. It also keeps things organized. Please refer to this board to make a profile if you haven't already, and post it here!- 3. Third Person
Third person is the point of view where all characters are referred to as he, she, they or it. We should never see I or we (first person) unless it is being used in dialogue. The character you role-play will have no knowledge of the future or anything out of their own knowledge (third-person limited).I raised my sword!
Examples:
Bad:
Good: Thor/he raised his hammer!
[/li][li]4. Word Count
As an intermediate/advanced role-play forum, Catalyst To Destiny has a minimum word count on in-character posts. That word count minimum is 250 words. It will not be strictly enforced, but if you cannot pump out 200 or more words in a post regularly, then Catalyst To Destiny is probably not the place for you.
[/li][li]5. Thread Tags
We use certain abbreviations in the titles of threads to inform what type of thread it is. These are the thread types: Open, Closed, Private, No Violence, No Maiming, and No Death.
[Open] - Thread is open for characters to join.
[Closed] - Thread is closed and characters cannot join. This tag can go hand in hand with [Private].
[Private] - Thread is closed, but those invited can join. This tag can go hand in hand with [Closed].
[No Violence] - [nv] - No fighting is allowed in the thread. As a Social-based RP, you will most likely find lots of these on CTD.
[No Maiming] - [nm] - Fighting is allowed in the thread, but you cannot critically injure a character (e.g., rip their limbs apart/cause permanent and serious damage). This tag doubles as a [No Death] tag, as if you cannot maim a character, you obviously cannot kill them.
[No Death] - [nd] - No death is allowed in the thread.
Examples:
Twinkie's Day Downtown [Open, nv] (open, no violence)
Thor's Trip on the Rainbow Bridge [Private, nd] (private, no death)
Etc.
[/li][li]6. God-Mod
God-modding is when a character does something and says something happened to your character because of it. In a jist, they’re controlling your character.Twinkie got mad, so she hit Thor in the face with a Banhammer.
Examples:
Bad:
Good: Twinkie got mad, so tried to hit Thor in the face with a Banhammer. [/blockquote]
[/li][li]7. Meta-Game
Meta-gaming is when a character claims to have a knowledge or understanding of something which they couldn’t of obtained in any way. Basically, they can read your mind or are all-knowing, both of which are unlikely.
Examples:
Bad: “Twinkie is tall and I don’t like her!” Thor thought to himself, looking comically thoughtful.
Twinkie gasped. “You don’t like me?! Why don’t you like me? Is it because I’m a tall Asian Animenerd?!”
Good: Twinkie raised an eyebrow, noting Thor was deep in thought. “Thor, what are you thinking about?” She asked.
[/li][li]8. Power-Post
Power-posting is when a member continuously posts before their turn in a thread with two or more other members in it, or continuously posts in it just to bump it up over other threads. It can be aggravating and there’s no reason to do so. Be patient and wait your turn.
[/li][li]9. Mary-sues & Gary-stus
A Mary-sue or Gary-stu are characters that are too perfect, have little identifiable flaws, attract all of the opposite sex, are really awesome and everyone likes them, etc. They can be based off of the creator or off of what the creator wishes they were. They are usually very unrealistic, and can be found god-modding, meta-gaming etc, because they’re “that awesome.” These characters aren’t fun to role-play with, and become boring fast. Please refrain from creating these. There are various litmus tests for Mary-sues/Gary-stus. Don’t get us wrong. Not every character is perfect, just like no human is perfect. Just some are really bad![/blockquote]
